SXSJ 2015

Nope, that's not a typo. South by San Jose (SXSJ) is the annual music festival put on by the fine folks at Hotel San Jose. I'm typically not to excited to jump into the SX madness, but I find SXSJ to be just the right amount of crazy for me. While the idea of heading to South Congress during SX seems like a bad idea, rolling up to Hotel San Jose on a bike actually makes for a pretty stress free experience. Sure you'll probably have to lock up a block or so away, but then it's just an easy stroll over to the parking lot for some free music, cold beer and of course, a little people watching. The full lineup for this years festival can be seen on the Facebook event page. While I haven't heard of a bunch of the musicians, I can say that the Golden Dawn Arkestra usually puts on a show not to be missed.

Nile Delta DJ Set

Have I mentioned yet how much I'm in love with Friends & Neighbors? No, well it's about time I did. This East Austin shop has a little bit of everything, from clothing (boys, girls and kids. Oh and lingerie) to coffee. They are my go to for some stump town beans, and a refreshing sangria or shrub on the porch. Look for a full write up on them in the future.

In the mean time get your calendar out and pencil in for a little back yard DJ set tomorrow. Before Nile Delta plays a show with Cut Copy at Stubbs, he'll be doing a free DJ set at Friends & Neighbors. It's the perfect opportunity to see just why I love the place so much. Make sure you come say hey to me too.

See you there!

Today is valentines day, a day to celebrate your love. Tomorrow on the other hand is Map Jam 2014, a day that Austin celebrates it's love, music. Map Jam is the second annual attempt to highlight some of these venues and some killer bands. For times, locations and bands, check out http://kutx.org/mapjam
