East Side King @ Cheer Up Charlies

One of the first food trailer experiences I had after moving to Austin was eating at East Side King at the Shangri-La. It was love at first bite. Since then East Austin has dropped from 3 East Side King trailers to just two. There was even a horrible moment where the trailer at the Liberty was the only one. Luckily shortly after Thai Kun opened up at the old Cheer Up Charlies location. When I heard that ESK was opening a trailer at the new Cheer Up Charlies location on RedriverI was excited. Sure it's not the East side any more, but it's still walking distance.

This week I finally made the trip over there and got a piece of the action for myself. I'm not a huge hot dog fan, but I've got to admit that the Moto Dog (above) was pretty rocking. Despite all the extras on top, it was really the quality meat that made it for me. I also tried the Thai Fried Fish Sandwich (deviously delicious) and the Gaufrettes (yummy!).

While it's still probably not my favorite ESK location, I have a feeling I'll still be back for more just because Cheer Up Charlies is so delightful. I mean come on. Where else can you get a beer, glow in the dark condoms, and the best hot dog you've had in a long long time all in one location?
