Design principle number one is K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid. Though the architecture on this one may err a bit on the simple side it's still so much better than those modern houses that over complicate everything with extra tiny windows and 4 different roof lines. (see the sadly defunkt @uglyaustinhouses for some prime examples)
