Design principle number one is K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid. Though the architecture on this one may err a bit on the simple side it's still so much better than those modern houses that over complicate everything with extra tiny windows and 4 different roof lines. (see the sadly defunkt @uglyaustinhouses for some prime examples)

I went through this one with a client a few weeks ago. They do a great job of packing a lot onto a long skinny lot. I actually really enjoy a house with long sight lines, and this house has them for miles. The reverse is true of the outdoor areas which are comfortably closed in and private.

I absolutely LOVE a minimal modern brick home. There is something that is absolutely timeless about brick, and though it's typically a traditional facade when it's done with modern detailing it's pretty hard to beat. Luckily on this house the good news doesn't stop there. The interior of the main and guest houses are equally well detailed and executed. Now where did I put that 1.5 milli I had laying around...

Decent looking infill in the Zilker neighborhood. I appreciate the generally neutral pallet of this project although by the looks of the short ceiling height in some of the upstairs rooms it looks like they may have tried to squeeze a bit to much square footage out of this one.

I love the Zilker location on this house, unfortunately that means it comes with Zilker prices too. The overall finish out on this one is pretty nice as well, though for a home over a million dollars I would hope to have better tile choices and less carpet. Bonus points for the outdoor bar / hammock groove though.

Ok, not the best photographs but hopefully better ones are coming soon, because this Michael Hsu designed duplex looks super interesting. As you would expect from a Hsu designed project there is a great use of materials here from the brick wall to the nicely detailed cedar facade. I expect the same level of detail is carried inside. Great price on this one too!
